When considering the top destinations to drop in on to listen to the best house music, I don’t think it would be disrespectful to say Bangkok might not be the first name that springs to mind but that’s something the innovative, music loving team at Levels is trying to change. Its Strictly House Terrace party has welcomed some of the finest artists on the international scene in recent months and that is set to continue with Doorly dropping in on January 30 before Spanish beat master David Penn takes over the booth on Wednesday February 6.
Bangkok is a fast evolving city, with a real cosmopolitan vibe and an ever-increasing number of stylish concepts opening. The city is more famous for its late night bars but there are a selection of fantastic parties to be enjoyed. Talented DJs and producers, alongside forward thinking venue owners have created a scene that offers clubbers the chance to enjoy some of the finest talent available. Levels enjoys an elevated position and boasts a stylish terrace with views across the city. An intimate space, it offers the perfect spot to enjoy the finest house music and Wednesday night party Strictly House has made a name for itself with its booking policy over the last year.
The latest respected artists to take over the booth on the terrace for Strictly House are Doorly and David Penn. Doorly drops in at the end of an exhaustive tour that has taken him from the UK to the US before an extensive set of dates across Australia and New Zealand. Doorly is a prolific producer, with a portfolio of releases on some of the world’s most respected labels, including Cajual, Dirtybird and Hot Creations. Behind the booth he exudes and energy and excitement of someone clearly in love with house music. David Penn is one of the icons of the Spanish music scene and someone that has made a huge contribution internationally. His trademark chunky beats have been at the heart of many club gatherings, played by DJs all over the world and when he gets control of the booth, he has an ability to take the crowd on a special musical journey. His appearance in Levels, on February 6, is testament to the reputation of the intimate club space.
