Singapore Clubbing

Asia is one of the hottest emerging regions for the dance music community, with Singapore leading the way in the electronic revolution. Dance music and Singapore are no strangers, venues like Zouk and Attica have been hosting international DJs for over a decade and there are a host of new venues that have embraced the musical genre and are offering exciting new experiences for the already savvy crowd. Singaporeans have a thirst for knowledge when it comes to the things that matter, and understanding the evolution of the electronic dance music industry and those that were instrumental is as important as following the latest artists to capture the imagination. Local DJs have long since provided a staple diet of chunky house beats, and while it remained more of an underground scene until recently, it is now very much in the foreground as most of the venues have at least one dedicated dance night, many are completely sold on the genre.

Deciding where to party in Singapore is a tricky proposition, with so many great options to choose from. The established clubs, like Zouk and Attica are still hugely popular and attract a strong local and international crowd. There are many exciting new options too, Kyo offers a varied musical programme, Bang Bang is located below the Pan Pacific hotel, traditionally a chic clubbing spot, offering a strong weekly schedule, featuring some talented local DJs as well as hosting the odd international DJ. For those that like to party in an unusual location, look no further than Altimate, located amongst the 61, 62 and 63 floor of Raffles Place. Fashion Club in Clarke Quay offers a vibrant destination for the younger crowd, where the beats can be uncompromising and not for the feint hearted. When it comes to location though, Ce La Vi on the roof of the Marina Bay Sands hotel offers a stunning view and new arrivals such as Alta Ego and Refuge are making a name for themselves. Look out too for some intimate parties in Canvas and Cato, hosting some innovative promoters and exciting artists. If you prefer your dance music on an urban tip with an old school flavour, check out Refuge on Circular Road. There are some exciting beach parties throughout the year tempting clubbers on to the sand and Zouk Out remains one of the biggest festivals in the region, taking place every December. Gardens By The Bay has also been known to host bigger club events, with Hardwell one of the recent stars to land there.
