Multi-award winning boutique festival Bestival comes to Bali for a two-day adventure on September 30 and October 1 2017. With a 14-year history in the UK and up to 40,000 fans each year, the eclectic festival has become an integral part of the UK’s festival scene and on September 30 music fans in Asia have the chance to see what all the fuss is about. The weekend line-up includes Alt-J, Rudimental (DJ Set), De La Soul, Goerge Clinton Parliament Funkadelic, Purity Ring, The Cuban Brothers, Rob Da bank, Stars And Rabbit and Ras Muhammad, with more acts to be announced.
Bestival is not your typical festival, famous for its creative vision, its fancy dress themed days and for a principled approach to offering its following an unforgettable experience, it originated on the Isle of Wight in the UK and 2017 sees it travel across the world to another beautiful island, this time Bali, where it promises to be one of the events of the year. The socially conscious event has supported numerous local charities across the years, never missing the opportunity to give something back. Founders Rob Da Bank and his wife Josie remain a driving force in the evolution of the annual event and will be present as it begins its new chapter in beautiful Bali.
The creative duo makes for the perfect partnership what with Rob’s extensive musical knowledge and network and Josie’s ability to re-imagine Bestival Land year on year to create a unique and welcoming environment for its legion of fans. Location plays a major role in any festival and there can be few sites anywhere in the world that compare to the magnificence of Uluwatu’s Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK Cultural Park), where an eclectic line-up from around the world will offer two days of world class performances. The location boasts breathtaking views across tropical Bali in 240 acres of parkland centred around 25-metre-high limestone carved cliffs where local talent will mix with established international artists for a stunning inaugural festival.
With more acts to be announced, the first wave is littered with talent, from Mercury prize winning indie rockers Alt-J to legendary hip-hop artists De La Soul and energetic bass-heavy combo Rudimental, who’s ability to fire up a crowd is far travelled. Bestival family members The Cuban Brothers will be on hand to keep the crowd entertained and there are appearances from Canadian electronic duo Purity Ring as well as local pop combo Stars and rabbits and festival founder Rob Da Bank will be amongst the talented DJs on show. Bestival curator Rob da Bank says: “Well I can’t think of a better place in the world to do a new festival than Bali – a beautiful country, incredible culture, great music and don’t even get me started on the surf, history, nature and people… We are honoured to be bringing Bestival to Bali and promise to deliver a sublime festival experience reflecting being on the Island Of Gods from funk pioneer George Clinton and hip hop royalty De La Soul to indie heroes alt-J and Purity Ring it’s gonna be the best!”
