Marina Bay Cruise Centre made a spectacular debut as the location for Beerfest, the ninth edition of the celebration of one of the world’s most loved tipples. With the scenic Straits of Singapore offering a spectacular backdrop, 31,000 visitors sampled over 500 varieties of beer and enjoyed the hospitality and entertainment across the weekend.
The 8000 square feet venue offered the perfect space as beer makes from all over the world descended on Singapore, pitched their stalls and looked to persuade beer lovers to sample their goods. From blonde beers to IPA’s and Guinness, there was a vast array of permutations on the beloved beer, each with a unique selling point and all adding up to a lively atmosphere as Singapore turned out in force. The Lion City is without a doubt one of the biggest beer loving nations, something underlined by the record attendances across the festival.
Beerfest boasted three stages, where a range of entertainment was on show all across the weekend. Live bands blasted out slick cover versions, DJs dropped chunky beats and there was even a beer yoga session, this had to be seen to be believed. Now if only all sports could incorporate a glass of golden nectar as part of the process, we might all be encouraged to be a little more active! The pop up beer stalls were complemented by a series of delicious food offerings, and there were chances to play indoor golf with Swingapore, as well as darts, and beer pong, possibly the most loved of the drinking sports! Beerfest returns in 2018, when it will celebrate its tenth anniversary with a larger selection of beers, including an exclusive festival beer and a more extensive entertainment program.
